Military
The acres of lands that you have will require you to build an army to help you defend that land and to go out and gain more land. This works by training your population to become soldiers and then training your soldiers to become a stronger fighting troop,
There are a number of options open to you here:
Draftrate: here you decide how much of your population will be in your army, i wouldnt advise going any higher than 65% here, well, not at the beginning!
Pay rate: here you can choose how much to pay your army, paying them less will only get less from them and paying them more will make them more effective, you can set this between 50% and 200%, i would suggest between 150% and 200% if your income can stand it!
Draft type: here is where you decide how quickly your population is turned into soldiers, quicker drafting will cost you more gold coins (gc's) and slower drafting will cost less, it all depends on how much you can afford at the time and how desperate you are!
Remember that if you change any of the settings for the above you will need to click "set military options" to make them happen!
Further down the page and you will see a summary of your military training, this shows you a list of four different types of army troops or units, they consist of an offensive specialist (off spec) with a rating of (5/0) which means (off/def) a defensive specialist (def spec) with a rating of (0/5) an elite unit with a rating that is (?/?) depending on the race that you choose and last, a thief who is just that, a thief!
Once you have drafted your soldiers you need to decide which of the above you will train them into, so the most important one is the def spec, remember you have to defend the land you have before gaining more!
You will need to have around 10 def specs (some race will be more, some will be less) for each acre of land you have, as each def spec is worth (0/5) meaning zero offence and 5 defence points, you will then have 50 defence points per acre (dpa). If you choose to be an attacker you would then need a few thieves to act as a defence against anyone trying to steal from you, maybe half or one per acre, the rest of your soldiers would be your attacking army or if you were to be a thief all of the remainder would be thieves.
Again depending on the race you choose, how many gold coins (gc's) you have and how urgent it is to train an attacking army will decide if you train the cheap off spec with 5 attack points each or the expensive elite (leet) who may have a stronger off and some def too.
Building armouries will make training any soldiers into leets or specs cheaper but not your thieves!
at the right you will see white boxes at the side of each unit, just enter how many of each type you wish to train, it will tell you the maximum you can afford to train, then click train military, oh, they take hours to be ready!
